Sweet classic romantic comedy
Perfectly charming cinderella story. Nothing startlingly original, but like the best comfort food, the art isn't found in the novelty of the ingredients, or the recipe used, but rather in an excellent performance true to the audience's expectations.

campy, entertaining
I didn't expect a lot from this film so I was surprised that it was campy and entertaining.
It's an amalgamation of several popular stories with plot twists, Pygmalion, Oliver Twist, and others, but it was well done and I would recommend it.
I watched the ending via IA's display but I prefer Quicktime since I can adjust the contrast and other picture-quality parameters to get the best possible viewing.
Ginger Rogers is very talented. I've never liked the GR & Fred Astaire movies so I didn't have a lot of expectations regarding this one. Basil Rathbone was one of the better actors of his time. Not as attractive as Ms. Rogers, though.
